About This Role
Goodro Lumber delivers building materials across Addison County and beyond, serving professional contractors and homeowners who count on us to show up on time with the right product. Our drivers are out in the community every day representing Goodro’s name. We are looking for someone who takes that responsibility seriously, treats every job site with care and professionalism, and communicates clearly when plans change. CDL is preferred but not required for the trucks in this role.
What You’ll Do
- Operate Goodro delivery vehicles to transport lumber, building materials, windows, doors, and related products to job sites and customer locations throughout the region
- Verify loads before departure to confirm accuracy, quantity, and secure rigging
- Deliver materials safely and professionally, navigating job site conditions including tight access, rough terrain, and active construction areas
- Obtain customer signatures and confirm delivery completion on each stop
- Communicate proactively with dispatch when schedules shift, access issues arise, or deliveries cannot be completed as planned
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT and company requirements
- Maintain a clean and well-organized vehicle
- Assist with loading when needed and coordinate with the yard team before departure
What We’re Looking For
- CDL (Class A or B) strongly preferred; non-CDL applicants with relevant delivery or truck driving experience will be considered
- Clean driving record; MVR check required
- Experience delivering to active construction or job sites is a significant plus
- Ability to operate boom trucks or flatbeds is a plus
- Comfortable working outdoors and handling materials in variable weather conditions
- Strong time management and communication skills
- Professional demeanor and genuine customer service instincts
- Physically capable of assisting with material handling as needed
Schedule & Compensation
- Monday through Friday
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience and licensure, $21 to $27 per hour
- Benefits package including health insurance and paid time off
- CDL holders may be eligible for premium pay

The Materials Handler is an essential member of our yard team, keeping our operations running smoothly and our customers and drivers moving efficiently. This is a physical, outdoor role that rewards reliability, attention to detail, and genuine pride in doing things right.
What You’ll Do
- Unload incoming deliveries from vendors and manufacturers, verifying quantities and condition against purchase orders
- Stock, organize, and maintain the lumber yard so that inventory is accessible, properly sorted, and easy to locate
- Stage and pull customer and contractor orders, preparing loads accurately and on schedule
- Assist drivers in loading delivery trucks, confirming loads are secured safely and correctly
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other yard equipment safely and responsibly
- Conduct regular inventory checks and flag discrepancies or damaged product to management
- Keep the yard clean, safe, and presentable for customers and contractors visiting the site
- Support the yard team across tasks as volume and priorities shift throughout the day
What We’re Looking For
- Able to work reliably outdoors year-round in Vermont weather conditions
- Physically capable of lifting and handling heavy materials (60+ lbs regularly)
- Forklift experience is a plus; willingness to get certified is required
- Familiarity with lumber, building materials, or construction is helpful but not required
- Dependable, punctual, and a team player who takes ownership of their work
- Strong attention to detail when pulling and verifying orders
- Valid driver’s license preferred

About This Role
Goodro Lumber is implementing a new gate system at our lumber yard to improve security, streamline customer and driver flow, and protect our inventory. The Gate Guard is the first and last face customers, contractors, and drivers see when visiting our yard. This role is as much about customer service as it is about access control. We are looking for someone who is personable, observant, and takes genuine pride in representing Goodro professionally.
What You’ll Do
- Greet all vehicles entering the yard, confirm purpose of visit, and direct them to the appropriate area (will-call pickup, delivery, customer service, etc.)
- Verify outgoing loads against invoices or pick tickets to ensure accuracy before vehicles exit
- Log all incoming and outgoing vehicle activity throughout the day
- Communicate with inside sales staff and the yard team via radio or phone to coordinate pickups and delivery traffic
- Identify and flag any discrepancies between outgoing loads and paperwork, escalating immediately when needed
- Manage yard entry flow during busy periods to keep traffic moving safely
- Enforce yard safety protocols, including hard hat and PPE requirements for customers and visitors
- Maintain a professional, welcoming presence that reflects Goodro’s reputation in the community
What We’re Looking For
- Customer-facing experience in retail, security, logistics, or a similar environment
- Strong communication skills; comfortable interacting with contractors, delivery drivers, and walk-in customers
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in Vermont weather with a booth/shelter provided
- Basic computer or tablet skills for logging activity and pulling up invoices
- Calm and organized under pressure when vehicle volume is high
- Observant and detail-oriented with a willingness to ask questions when something looks off
- Knowledge of lumber or building materials is a plus but not required

- Daytime shifts aligned with yard operating hours (Monday through Friday)
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience, starting at $18 per hour
